Project Carbon Neutral featured in UNDP publication

De La Salle University-Dasmariñas was recently featured in “Transformational Business: Philippine Business Contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” a publication of the United Nations Development Programme.
The article entitled “Private Sector Initiatives in Disaster Risk Reduction” highlighted the University’s shift to LED lighting to reduce the University’s carbon footprint as part of its Project Carbon Neutral “Black Out: Green In” program.
The University was also lauded for its comprehensive programs on reducing the use of paper, managing waste and recycling wastewater and rainwater to reduce dependency on groundwater.
As a testament to the effectiveness of DLSU-D’s sustainable practices, carbon footprint went down from 90,284 tonnes in 2011 to 70,016 tonnes in 2015. Carbon footprint was also reduced from 636 kg in 2011 to 533 kg in 2015.
