The graduating class BS Biology which includes students from Human Biology, Medical Biology and Environmental Science went on a MedTour of DLS-HSI's College of Medicine and Co Tec Tai Medical Museum in Pasay City recently.
The exposure trip sponsored by the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute provided students a glimpse of what it would be like to study Medicine Proper in De La Salle College of Medicine and the opportunity to experience state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities that Lasallian education can provide to its medical students.
Accompanying the students are their respective Biology professors from the College of Science and Computer Studies. The field trip further culminated with a visit to Co Tec Tai Medical Museum which showcases a wide array of medical artifacts depicting the long history of the medical profession in the Philippines.
The museum is the legacy of Yong Ong, the patriarch of the Ong Family who founded the museum for everyone to learn about our country's rich history of healing practices, dating from ancient time-tested indigenous healing methods up to the present-day technology-based diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. The museum administrator, who is a member of the Ong Family also highlighted the rising acceptance of traditional herbal medicines from indigenous species as alternatives to healing.
