Greenpeace partners with DLSU-D

De La Salle University-Dasmariñas was recently was handpicked by environmental watchdog GreenPeace Southeast Asia to be one of its six partner schools from the Philippines in the implementation of the Sustainable Campus Project. The project aims to launch advocacies and campaign on energy efficiency and energy conservation in academic institutions.

This project, which is in support of the University's Black Out! Green In! Project Carbon Neutral, is partnered by PhilCarbon, which provides the technical assistance on  energy auditing and the Foundation for the Philippine Environment, which provides the funding for the project.

Listed below are the updates and upcoming activities with regards to our tie up project with GreenPeace Southeast Asia on the Sustainable Campus Project.

Facilitated by GreenPeace and PhilCarbon. Walk-through energy audit was done on selected buildings within the University. Audit report will be prepared by PhilCarbon.

Tips for a Low Carbon Footprint Christmas

These are practical tips released to the Lasallian Community to encourage fellow Lasallians to celebrate the holidays in a more eco-friendly manner and energy efficient way.
Meetings with the Sustainable Campus Project (Advocacy and Campaign Arm)
December, 2011 and January, 2012
Met up with the Campaign arm of the project (comprising mostly of the student sectors) and came up with a series of activities to help on the campaign for energy efficiency and conservation.

Solar Panel Demonstration Display (beside the Old Library)
January 25, 2012
A massive campaign drive towards energy efficiency is slated on the 25th of January. This is spearheaded by SERVE and USC, and supported by representatives from LCDC, LS VERDE, COSSC, EnviSci Students, HF, NSTP-CWTS, AEA, ERMCDO, and GreenPeace.

Environmental films which focus on energy efficiency campaigns will be aired on these dates. Inputs and additional giveaway materials on the Sustainable Campus Project will also be given to the participants. The Sustainable Campus Project Freedom Wall will also be set up during these dates to encourage feedback and interaction. 
Solar Panels Demonstration and Display
February 13-18, 2012
The COSSC will host the GreenPeace Solar Panel Display as part of their activity during the duration of the Lasallian Days. It will showcase renewable energy options as a more sustainable alternative.
“Are you an Earth LOVER?” Campaign
February 14, 2012
A Valentine’s Day campaign that will be released by ERMCDO in the Lasallian Community which may help one gauge how an individual can express his/her love not only to a person but also to the environment as well. 
Energy Audit Result Presentation
February or March, 2012
The presentation of the Energy Audit Report will be done by PhilCarbon, one of the partner institutions whose project counterpart was to analyze the energy audit data that was done in our university on selected buildings.
Campus-wide Campaign Poster Distribution
February, 2012
Campaign posters will be distributed (for posting) at different offices and bulletin boards within the University. These are posters reproduced by GreenPeace Southeast Asia specifically for the project.
“Switch Off and Unplug” wall sticker campaign
March, 2012
ERMCDO will release a standard sticker label that will be placed near the fan and lighting switches inside classrooms within the university to remind students and employees to switch off electrical items when not in use.
DLSU-D Energy Efficiency Video Teaser Campaign
March- Summer term
The CLA will be asked to help lend a hand in the campaign by recommending Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation as topics for advocacy video projects for students. Which in turn may be aired in different avenues such as online, and LCD Screens within the University (subject for negotiation).
