The DLSU-D community joins the nation in celebrating the National Bible Month this January.
This year’s theme “Ang Biblia ang Sandigan ng Matuwid na Pamumuno at Pamumuhay” highlights the Bible’s role in righteous leadership and living.
The month long celebration was officially declared last year by President Rodrigo Duterte via Proclamation No. 124 but the celebration started as early as 1972 during the time of former President Ferdinand Marcos.
Former President Corazon Aquino moved the celebration from November to January while former President Fidel Ramos, through his own proclamation underscored the need to study the Bible.
“We encourage churches, LGUs, schools and organizations to help raise awareness on the importance of the Bible in people’s lives. Let us make our countrymen realize that it is a source of strength and wisdom and is not just applicable during times of trials but as a guiding light all our lives,” Philippine Bible Society (PBS) General Secretary Nora G. Lucero said.
In his letter to the community, Campus Ministry Office (CMO) Director Arvin Gacelo shared 10 ways to celebrate National Bible Month recommended by the PBS and urged the faithful to participate in the celebration.
