De La Salle University-Dasmariñas’ Communication and Journalism Department joins the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and other academic and artistic institutions in celebrating 100 years of Filipino film artistry through the “SANDAAN: Philippine Cinema Centennial Conference - The Filipino Film Centenary Expedition (TFFCE)” to be held from November 16 to December 8, 2018 in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The conference aims to inspire local filmmakers, film students, film teachers, and film enthusiasts to reconnect to the foundation of Philippine cinema and enable them to have a firm foundation as creators of local films. Activities like talks and film screenings of regional, mainstream and independent films are also expected to mobilize filmmakers into organizing filmmaking communities that will promote and develop Philippine cinema in the years to come.
This year’s event takes the activities to different parts of the Philippines to spread knowledge and appreciation for cinema through lessons learned from its history and evolution.
“We appreciate the NCCA's confidence in DLSU-D to organize the Sandaan TFFCE. We take pride in being part of the centennial celebration of Philippine cinema,” Rosanni Sarile, who is in charge of DLSU-D Sandaan TFFCE program, said. “Ang yaman ng pelikula ay yaman ng kulturang Pilipino at mapalad ang Cavite sapagkat marami sa mga artistang nagbigay ng mga natatanging kontribusyon sa industriya ng pelikula ay mga Caviteño.”
Among the other partners of this milestone event include Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts of Xavier University, Ateneo de Cagayan and CineKasimanwa with The Negros Museum.
