
Students from DLSU-D’s Economics program recently received the Best Paper Award at the 16th Economix Paper Competition held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The team of Gerladine Dela Cruz and Lance Gerard Romero, coached by Ms. Alice Valerio from the University’s Allied Business Department, were given the award for their paper entitled: “Boom or Bust: Opportunities and Consequences for the Philippines in the Demographic Transition.” As part of the award, the paper will be published in the journal Mini Economica of the University of Indonesia.
The team from DLSU-D bested 10 other groups from three countries including the Philippines, Bangladesh and Indonesia. The Economix: Global Economics Challenges is an annual international event held by KANOPI February UI, a student organization run by undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, of Universitas Indonesia.
The event seeks to bring together participants from different backgrounds and disciplines to share, discuss, and find potential solutions for current global economic issues. Among the highlights of the event are the international seminar, paper competition, essay competition and Model United Nations.
