As multiple sectors of society were affected by the enhanced community quarantine imposed in Luzon and other major provinces to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Lasallians pooled their resources together to provide aid for those who were severely affected by the pandemic.
The Advancement and Alumni Relations Office, together with the Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC) spearheaded the Tulong Lasalyano fund drive to support frontliners at the De La Salle University Medical Center as well as contractual employees and needy students of DLSU-D.
According to the UAO, the fund drive which started last March 18, was able to collect over P500,000 in gross donations for cash and in-kind donations.
Based on records from the Accounting Office, the collected cash donations as of May 18 amounted to Php396,330. Php100,000 was transferred to DLSMHSI to benefit frontliners in the battle against COVID-19.
Family packs were also distributed to 50 Diars personnel, 11 student-athletes, and 17 coaches while cash assistance was provided to 67 Diars personnel (12 sponsored by the CTHM Faculty, 6 sponsored by the CEAT Faculty). Twenty-six Mech-Air personnel, 74 Combined Blue Dragon security personnel, and 48 contractual employees of DLSU-D also received cash aid.
The drive was also able to provide cash assistance to students in need from March 28 to May 14, 2020.
The AERO and the LCDC expressed gratefulness to Lasallians who responded to the call of the needy during this critical time.
