Angie Quadra-Balibay, a faculty member of DLSU-D’s Communications and Journalism Department as well as the managing editor of Good News Pilipinas, was recently selected as a finalist for the 2022 Lasallian Scholarum Awards.
Balibay was nominated for the Outstanding Feature Story her article entitled “Lasallian Heroes against Marttial Law honored on International Day of Peace” which was posted the Good News Pilipinas site.
“I treasure this recognition from the Lasallian media awards from DLSU Manila, my very first from the Lasallian system after over a decade of teaching in DLSU-D as a part-time practitioner faculty and managing the student-run Green FM radio in Cavite. Even more so, to be selected as a finalist was a surprise to me. We did not submit for an award and learned that Scholarum Awards selects media stories at large. Truly grateful,” Balibay said in an interview.
Balibay has been with DLSU-D as a faculty member and station manager of Green FM for over a decade. She briefly took a break from teaching in 2019 and returned to the faculty roster in 2021 to teach Journalism and Safety, the pioneering course that she helped the department develop as part of the curriculum.
The Lasallian Scholarum Awards is a platform that recognizes outstanding covergage on youth and education. It also aims to inspire members of the media to put youth and education in the center of national consciousness to encourage different sectors to advance the plight of these sectors.
The awarding of the winner will be held on March 9 via Zoom.
