DLSU-D has once again been recognized as the #1 Greenest University in the Philippines by the 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings (UIGM).
Among 1,477 institutions globally, DLSU-D placed 143rd worldwide, reaffirming its leadership in sustainability and environmental excellence. This marks the 12th consecutive year the university has received this prestigious title.
Brother President Francisco "Sockie" de la Rosa VI FSC expressed his gratitude, saying:
"We are thankful that after 12 years, our efforts to create possibilities in our green university have been recognized by the UIGM.”
“Rest assured that we will continue to grow and innovate as an institution to address emerging challenges, most especially on the issue of climate change and other aspects of sustainability," Br. Sockie added.
Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Sonia Gementiza described the recognition as an early Christmas gift for the community:
"We share this with our Lasallian family, partners and stakeholders who have been working tirelessly with us for over a decade."
“We will continue to build more partnerships and linkages to create awareness and build commitment for this worthwhile advocacy,” Dr. Gementiza added.
Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services Dr. Nathaniel S. Golla celebrated the achievement, calling it a testament of the university’s collective effort in creating environmental sustainability.
“This milestone is a testament to our collective efforts and alignment with the Brother President’s direction to advance environmental sustainability, proving that with unity and purpose, we truly embody the spirit of ‘Making Green… Greener!”
DLSU-D’s dedication to green initiatives includes renewable energy, waste reduction, sustainable transportation, water conservation, eco-friendly infrastructure, and incorporating sustainability into education and research.
As the first Philippine university to join the UIGM in 2013, DLSU-D continues to set the standard for environmental advocacy in higher education.
Congratulations to the Campus Sustainability Office and the entire DLSU-D community for making ‘Green Greener!’
