De La Salle University-Dasmariñas reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability through its recent participation in the 10th International Workshop on UI GreenMetric World University Rankings-IWGM 2024 in Bogota, Colombia.
Office of the Vice President for Administrative Services Dr. Nathaniel Golla and DLSU-D Pollution Control Officer Geraldine Zamora attended the workshop on behalf of the University and presented DLSU-D’s initiatives towards being a Sustainable Campus entitled "A 22-Year Quest to A Sustainable Campus Through Solid Waste Management: DLSU-D Making Green Greener."
The paper highlighted DLSU-D's sustainable solutions, its award-winning ecological solid waste management program Black Out, Green In, curriculum and research Integration, green initiatives, recognition by the DENR as a sustainable champion, and its priority development plans for more sustainable solid waste management. The paper was co-authored by Dr. Golla, Geraldine Zamora, Jocelyn Luyon, and Angelynne Chui.
During the event, Dr. Golla acted as co-chair of one of the parallel sessions and facilitated the discussions on best practices in environmental sustainability as presented by the delegates of universities from Russia, Nigeria, Columbia, and Brazil.
DLSU-D also accepted the invitation of the UI GreenMetric to be part of the organizing committee to host the international workshop in 2028.
The international workshop was participated in by 110 delegates from 61 universities coming from 23 countries.
