Gavin Dale Sitones, a second-year BS Psychology student from DLSU-D, represented the Philippines at the 3rd International Student Leaders Meeting on Sustainability (ISLMS 2025) held at the University of Szeged, Hungary.
With the theme "Challenges and Pathways to a Sustainable Future," the event gathered youth leaders and educators from around the world to discuss sustainability in higher education and governance.
Sitones was one of six official Philippine delegates that participated in forums, panel discussions, and breakout sessions aimed at shaping youth-led sustainability initiatives. His attendance was made possible through DLSU-D’s Linkages and Scholarship Office under the LAYAG (Linking Academics and Young Ambassadors Globally) program.
Describing the experience as transformative, Sitones said, “The collaboration with global leaders highlighted how youth can drive tangible change in sustainability, aligning with DLSU-D's Lasallian mission of service and innovation.”
The conference, co-hosted by the University of Szeged and UI GreenMetric, featured keynote speakers, policy discussions, and culminated in the International Youth Declaration. A symbolic tree-planting ceremony capped the event, reinforcing the collective commitment to environmental action.
