De La Salle University-Dasmariñas remains as the Philippines’ Most Sustainable University for the 10th year in a row, based on the latest Universitas Indonesia Greenmetric (UIGM) World University Rankings.
The University ranked 274th out of 1,050 institutions that joined this year. DLSU-D charted a score of 7,100 points across six metrics including Setting and Infrastructure, Energy & Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education & Research.
"For the 10th year, we have been honored by the UIGM World University Rankings as the Most Sustainable University in the Philippines. Like many other institutions, I admit that we have faced many challenges in implementing our sustainability programs. Still, we soldiered on and did our best. We looked at opportunities at the flipside of these challenges. We maintained our positive outlook. And finally, with the help of our Lasallian community, we managed to overcome our obstacles. We are humbled by this honor and we vow to do more in the years to come. Please look forward to it," DLSU-D President Br. Francisco "Sockie" dela Rosa VI, FSC said.
"A decade of invitations by the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings to become one of the greenest universities in the Philippines is like planting a mustard seed. DLSU-D started out its green journey in small steps until it grows gradually to become a big ‘tree’ through the continual alliance between and among all stakeholders amid the encountered challenges from pre-pandemic time up to the post-pandemic recovery period. Our faith in God through our Lasallian mission and vision has served very well for the whole community in linking the sustainability goals to living the Laudato Si’ goals, to the envisioned future: A Safe, Innovative, and Sustainable Campus beyond the Better Normal. This achievement is made possible because of the community, because each and everyone of us contributed to what we are now as the Greeniest campus in the Philippines. Animo, La Salle!," Dr. Nathaniel Golla, Office of the Vice President for Administrative Services added.
DLSU-D is proud to share the achievement with the growing number of Philippine universities that have joined the list of most sustainable institutions in the world including De La Salle University Manila, Tarlac Agricultural University, Batangas State University, Mariano Marcos State University,Bataan Peninsula State University, Mindanao State University, Iligan Institute of Technology, Xavier University, Ateneo de Cagayan, Ateneo de Davao University, and Manila Central University.
De La Salle University-Dasmariñas has participated in the UIGM since it started in 2012 and remains committed to improving the sustainability aspects of its operations. Most recently, the University was also recognized as a Highly Commended University in the International Green Gown(IGGA) Awards.
DLSU-D further solidified its commitment to sustainability through the signing of United Nations Education Programme’s (UNEP) SDG Accord in 2021 and joining University of Oxford and UNEP's Nature Positive University Alliance in 2022.
