The Lasallian Pause
Your weekly prayer and reflection guide
Stop. Breath. Remember.
Welcome to The Lasallian Pause, a weekly reflection from the Office of the Vice President for Lasallian Mission. It arrives at the start of the week on purpose so that our week of daily ministry begins the way everything in a Lasallian community begins: with prayer.
A university is a busy place, and DLSU-D is busier than most. Between classes, consultations, deadlines, accreditation cycles, enrolment periods, and the ordinary weight of serving thousands of students, it is entirely possible to spend a whole semester doing Lasallian work without once stopping to notice that it is Lasallian.
Saint John Baptist de La Salle saw this same risk in his own teachers. His answer was not to lighten their workload. It was to teach them to keep an interior spirit in the middle of it to remain aware of God's presence while the chalk was still in their hand. He warned the Brothers about activity that has lost its soul, and he wrote moments of recollection directly into the rhythm of the school day.
The Lasallian Pause is one small, modern way of keeping that instruction alive. You are already generous. You are already working hard. This asks nothing more of your effort only a few minutes for meaning.
"Synodality is the way we walk together; it is fraternity set in motion."

The Lasallian Pause Prayer
October 12, 2026
Dear Lasallian Partners,
Peace.
As we begin the week and take up our daily work and mission, may we remember that each morning God calls us again: to begin anew, to serve, to be present to one another. To help us start our days with faith and purpose, we invite you to join us in prayer and reflection through The Lasallian Pause.
May this simple habit of pausing find its place in our daily rhythm — shaping our thoughts, moving us to act, and deepening our Lasallian spirit of faith, zeal for service, and communion in mission. And may it draw us closer to one another as well.
Synodality is the way we walk together; it is fraternity set in motion. Let us journey together, then, with hearts rooted in God's presence.
Live Jesus in our hearts. Forever!
Ways to Use It
On your own
Read it when it arrives, and let the question stay with you through the week.
To open the week
Unit heads are welcome to use the Reading and Prayer as the opening prayer at meetings.
With your office
Gather for five minutes, read it aloud, and let anyone respond who wishes to.
On the wall
Print it and post it near the bulletin board or the time-in area, where it can reach colleagues who rarely open email.
Reading
A reading from the Lasallian Reflection No. 3, Brothers of the Christians Schools
Being created by the same Father, all beings in the universe are united by invisible ties and form a kind of universal family, a sublime communion that moves us to a sacred, loving and humble respect. We begin by getting out of ourselves, out of our securities and prejudices, and going to encounter our brother and sister. Today, more than ever, the Church and the world are calling us to go beyond the borders.
(Pause)
Reflection Question
What interior changes must take place in my own heart so that my actions reflect God's welcoming grace and radical solidarity?
Prayer
Loving God, fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we may step out of our comfort zones and cross the borders of prejudice, fear, and indifference. Grant us the discernment to listen deeply, the humility to learn from others, and the courage to advocate for the poor, the displaced, and the vulnerable. Amen.
St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.
Live, Jesus, in our hearts, forever.
