Our Founder's Vision

Museo de La Salle, nestled in the heart of Dasmariñas, Cavite, traces its roots back to the visionary Brother Andrew Gonzalez, FSC. The journey began in 1988 when Brother Andrew Gonzalez visited the Joven Panlilio House in Bacolor, Pampanga. Enthralled by the bahay na bato and its meticulously restored 19th-century splendor, he envisioned a museum that would not only showcase historical treasures but also contribute to the university's commitment to nationalism, history, and culture. This dream took shape in collaboration with the esteemed interior designer and Filipiniana consultant, Jose Ma. Ricardo Panlilio, fondly known as Joey.

Vision and Mission

Resilience Amidst Adversity

The catastrophic Mount Pinatubo eruption in 1991 forced the Panlilio family to dismantle their ancestral home. However, adversity paved the way for opportunity. Br. Andrew and Joey renewed discussions about establishing a museum for La Salle, envisioning a space that would house the Panlilio heirlooms and contribute to the university's historical studies. Despite facing challenges such as funding constraints and the intricacies of construction, the project persisted due to unwavering passion and dedication.

Craftsmanship and Detail:
A Grandiose Endeavor

Construction began in 1996, marked by Br. Andrew's appeal to friends and donors for initial funds. Joey Panlilio, assuming the roles of interior designer and project manager, upheld a vision of grandiosity. The meticulous attention to detail and insistence on building a bahay na bato of museum standards resulted in a structure three times the size of a traditional one. A team of experts, including renowned consultants and donors such as Dr. Jaime Laya and Dr. Eleuterio Pascual, contributed to the museum's vast collection.
