MDLS places museum education as its most important thrust. Accordingly, its program offerings emphasize a didactic and holistic approach to learning through museums. These programs have been developed to reinforce MDLS's mission of educating about arts and cultural heritage through its collections and programs:
This program recognizes that learning in museums is most effective when participants are enjoying themselves and engaging with friends. With the additional goal of nurturing champions, this program collaborates with selected teachers who have developed museum-based learning modules. Currently, there are modules that are being further developed, covering Art Appreciation, Tourism, Biology, and Rizal.
MDLS partners with select DLSU-D academic programs to integrate museum-related visits/activities to syllabi:
SITẼNTAHI
In partnership with Mr. Juan Luis Perlas and his Introduction to Film class from the Communication and Journalism Department, the MDLS now features “Sitẽntahi” under its Creative Outputs of Curriculum Integration.
“Sitẽntahi” follows the story of aspiring fashion designer Miguel Ugalde, who purchases a mysterious thrifted shirt that transports him to the Marcos era in a vivid dream. Through its imaginative narrative, the film reflects on memory, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of the People Power.
The short film, produced by Haraya Productions, was also recognized at the Museo Short Film Project, earning major awards including Best Short Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Production Design, and Best Poster.
“Sitẽntahi” serves as a timely reminder of how history can be revisited and reimagined through creative expression, bringing the past into conversation with the present for a new generation of learners.
