Description

The Llavera or key holders are typically kept hanging on the waist of the master of the house and the servants. The keyholders are especially made to illustrate the status symbol of families in society as the master chooses the design of these functional accessories. The more elaborate and intricate the design, the more it symbolizes the wealth and status of the owner. Some families even have family insignias as part of the design of the llavera.

This item is part of Museo de La Salle’s Santos Joven Panlilio collection which boasts of antique turn-of the-century furniture and decorative furnishings from the family’s ancestral home in Bacolor, Pampanga. Some pieces were collected through the years by art connoisseur, antique collector and interior designer Jose Ma. Ricardo Panlilio, the museum’s founding director.
