Description

A wooden image of a lamb holding a banner which symbolizes the glorious ressurection of Jesus. The Lamb of God (Latin: Agnus Dei) is one of the titles given to Jesus in the New Testament and consequently in the Christian tradition. It refers to Jesus' role as a sacrificial lamb atoning for the sins of man in Christian theology. In Pampanga, the tradition of creating an image of a lamb in the form of an image or a cake is done during the commemoration of the Holy Week or Cuaresma.

This item is part of Museo de la Salle’s Santos Joven Panlilio collection which boasts of antique turn-of-the-century furniture and decorative furnishings from family’s ancestral home in Bacolor, Pampanga.
