This intricately carved wooden image portrays San Isidro Labrador in a reverent stance, with his arms slightly extended and reaching upwards while his head is raised towards the heavens. The carving highlights his distinctive nose and beard, and his hair drapes down his back in a smooth, flowing manner. Around his waist, there is a laced girdle that appears loosely fastened. He is depicted grasping a spade, and his attire includes knee-high boots.
This item is part of the DM Guevara Collection which pays tribute to the Filipino artisans of the past two centuries. Comprising of both fine furniture collections and folk implements, the collection highlights Western and Asian influences that are exquisite and functionally Filipino. The DM Guevara Collection was put together by the family matriarch Carmen S. Guevara for the Museo ng Buhay Pilipino in 1979.
