Wooden religious image of San Jose (St. Joseph) with mannequin body and detachable head and hands. Head is slightly turned towards right side, gazing downwards; with carved beard and wavy wig hair reaching down to above-elbow length. Right hand is held in front of chest; Left hand, at lower position, holds a silver cane (baston) with carved lily. Attached feet are carved with sandals.
This item is part of Museo de la Salle’s Santos Joven Panlilio collection which boasts of antique turn-of-the-century furniture and decorative furnishings from family’s ancestral home in Bacolor, Pampanga. Some pieces were collected through the years by art connoisseur, antique collector and interior designer Jose Ma. Ricardo Panlilio, the museum’s founding director.
