  Letters from Father Christmas.

J.R.R. Tolkien rose to fame for creating Middle Earth, and along with it, the epic Lord of the Rings saga. Letters from Father Christmas (aka The Father Christmas Letters) is nothing like his other works, perhaps because it was intended for his children. The book is a collection of letters that Tolkien wrote for his children for 23 years in the voice of Father Christmas himself or his secretary. The book was published posthumously through his estate.

If you feel like you’re in a slump, The Last Lecture by Professor Randy Pausch will make you rethink your life and reignite your passion. The Last Lecture is a collection of lessons Pausch learned over the years which he wanted to impart to his children. The book is an offshoot to the last lecture he held at Carnegie Melon after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Through the book, he shares anecdotes from his childhood to adulthood which will inspire you to take action.

Before Mari Kondo starred in Netflix’s Tidying Up, she wrote the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up where she expounds on her KonMari method of decluttering. She also explains how she came up with these principles. It’s a pretty amazing read.
