This wooden lounging chair known as the Silla Perezosa. It is a variation of the popular butaca chair which features a full-caned seat and backrest, an extended armrest, two baluster-type front legs supported with flanges, and two rear legs in splayed form supported by a simple stretcher.
This type of chair is characterized by flat and extended armrests and a reclined back, built for short naps and leisure.
This item is part of Museo de La Salle’s Santos Joven Panlilio collection which boasts of antique turn-of the-century furniture and decorative furnishings from the family’s ancestral home in Bacolor, Pampanga. Some pieces were collected through the years by art connoisseur, antique collector and interior designer Jose Ma. Ricardo Panlilio, the museum’s founding director.
