Blessed is She

As we celebrate Women’s month this March, have you given yourself time to reflect on your own vices? What about your insecurities as a woman?  If yes, then good – but have you questioned yourself again, “Did I take it seriously or not”? Maybe most of you will tell me this is why it is so important to ask these things.

Then let me tell you a story … before, I was afraid to speak up. I was afraid to do good things for my fellow women. I experienced harassment and not being listened to. I let other people make me feel that I was weak.

Yes, it was hard, there were a lot of obstacles that hindered me in my journey as a woman. However, just as I was about to fall and lose hope, I asked myself: “Bakit nga ba ako babae? Sana lalaki nalang ako.”

But you know what? There was someone close to my heart who reminded me and told me that, “Bbeing a woman is a blessing because women nurture the hearts of everyone.” It was then that I again asked myself: “Was I being too harsh on myself?”  Did I let my own vices and insecurities flow above me because I was afraid to be judged by others?

But let this sink in…  “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own." - Audre Lorde. My dear ladies, even if we have different stories to tell, let me remind you the following:

It is okay, to be honest to yourself even if you are vulnerable.

It is okay to be silent and don’t force yourself to speak up if you are afraid and;

Take your time to grow and nurture.

Be the woman that you want to be, but not be the woman that others want you to be.

If it is written in Luke 1:45 “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” then who are you to question your worth?

Insecurities? Vices?  Don’t let it eat at you. You are greater than those insecurities.

BLESSED IS SHE BECAUSE SHE IS POWERFUL.
