Lasallian Festival 2019
De La Salle University-Dasmariñas is set to celebrate the annual Lasallian Festival with theme: “Creating Possibilities with One Heart, One Commitment, and One Life” which is anchored on the Tercentenary celebration of the life and legacy of our Founder, St. John Baptist De La Salle.
This year's celebration is made more meaningful as the community is called not just to remember the Father Founder's gift to the Church and the world, but also to be the Humans of St. La Salle – the face of the Founder in sustaining the mission of providing a Christian and human education especially to the poor and at-risk youth. The LSF also presents the perfect opportunity to celebrate what Lasallians do (mission) and who they are (identity) as a Lasallian academic institution.
During the opening mass of the Lasallian Festival, University Chaplain Fr. Mark Reyes said that more than festivities and alternative activities, the event seeks to encourage Lasallians to reflect on their role as children of St. La Salle.
"300 years later, here we are, celebrating this call and mission, striving to be the face of La Salle today. The founder exhorts the brothers and teachers, saying, “Do your part to help build up the kingdom of God in the hearts of your students.” For him, this work of education goes well beyond classroom instruction. Lasallian identity and mission is entering the human heart with all its burdens and cares and preparing it to be a dwelling place of Christ. A heart that welcomes Christ overflows with his love, so much so that he cannot but go on mission. If Jesus lives in our hearts, we can do all things for the love of God manifested in love for neighbor," he said in his homily.
The LSF 2019 is the Lasallian community's response to the challenge of the 2008 Philippine Lasallian Family Convocation to all the District schools to “institutionalize the celebration of the Lasallian Mission”.
