In preparation for the 300th anniversary of our Holy Founder´s completion of his earthly journey which will happen in 2019, De La Salle University Dasmarinas will embark on an activity entitled “Dalaw-Juan 2018”, the visitation of the image of the St. John Baptist de La Salle to designated sites within the University Campus.
This will serve as a kick-off celebration in preparation for De La Salle’s tercentenary as a way of sensitizing the school community towards the meaning and relevance of Lasallian educative presence today. This also seeks to strengthen the spirit of community and commitment in furthering De La Salle’s mission of human and Christian education.
Specifically, Dalaw Juan aims to lead the DLSU-D community in re-discovering the heart of our father founder, especially his love for the Holy Eucharist, which he refers to as heavenly bread that unites Him to our souls to nourish it with God and to make it grow strong (cfr. Meditations for All the Sundays of the Year, 26.2).
This experience of communion with the Lord will hopefully lead to a life of fellowship with the different members and sectors of the University community and encourage a sense of service and commitment to those most in need.
The entire program for Dalaw Juan will involve moments of prayer, reflection and sharing of the different units and sectors of the DLSU-D community which hopefully will lead to service and a deeper understanding of Lasallian spirituality and mission.
Dalaw Juan 2018 will kick off with a Holy Mass in Honor of St. John Baptist de La Salle on April 6. The visitation of the image of our father founder will happen from April 6- May 15. On May 15, the University will celebrate the declaration of St. John Baptist de La Salle as patron of Christian Teachers.
