The LCDC is asking for support for displaced families in need of assistance after the province was affected by the recent eruption of the Mayon Volcano.
According to information sent by Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Legaspi, Albay, there are roughly 30,000 people in and around Legaspi City who have fled their homes after Phivolcs raised Alarm No. 4 in surrounding areas of Mt. Mayon. With the growing number of evacuees and the uncertainty of the volcano’s condition, resources are gradually depleting in evacuation areas.
The University is currently focusing its efforts on Guinobatan town which has 3090 displaced families, or 10,544 individuals.
Evacuees are currently in need of a steady supply of basic necessities such as clean water, food, hygiene kits and medicine. However, in consideration of logistics concerns, DLSU-D is encouraging cash donations which will be accepted by the Accounting Office. Direct deposits to the University’s account are also encouraged.
