The Professional Education Department of the College of Education (COEd) is once again spearheading the 8th Young Educators’ Congress 2019 with the theme “Embracing Student Diversity.” It will be held on February 8, 2019 from 8 am to 5 pm at the Ugnayang La Salle, DLSU-Dasmariñas.
The Congress brings two noted personalities as speakers. One of them is Sabrina Ongkiko, a sought-after motivational TEDX speakers in the country today. Ongkiko is a multi-awarded alumna of Ateneo De Manila University, National Institute of Education-Singapore and University of Melbourne- Australia who gave up her pursuit in the medical school to become a public school teacher in Culliat Elementary School – Quezon City. Her plight for teaching the Filipino youth and her pedagogical advocacies and strategies to embrace the diversity of learners won her an award as one of the Ten Outstanding Women in Nation Service (TOWNS) in 2016.
Meanwhile, Dr. Marie Therese Angeline P. Bustos is the Philippine Director of the Assessment, Curriculum and Technology Research Center(ACTRC), a partnership between the University of Melbourne and the University of the Philippines, supported by the Australian government. She is an Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines-Diliman and the Dean of the College of Education. She is also the Chair of the Technical Committee for Special Education and a member of the Technical Panel on Teacher Education of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd). Her recent roles in research on inclusive education include Lead Researcher of the Incorporating Disability in the Conditional Cash Transfer Program and Project Director of the Philippines Response to Indigenous Peoples and Muslim Education Program.
Aside from the two seminars, the event will also include professional education quiz bee and creative speech choir competition.
The event seeks to bring together Education students (first year to fourth year), faculty members, and administrators/school heads. The registration fee will have the minimal cost of three hundred fifty pesos (P350.00) to defray the expenses for certificates, kits, venue, sound system, medals, prizes and speakers’ honoraria.

Reservation may also be done via text message, e-mail, or phone call on or before December 31, 2018. For those who are interested in participating in the contests, acceptance of contestants will be on a first come first served basis so early confirmation of entry is required.
