The Department of Science and Technology has approved funding for a P2-5 million project to be developed by DLSU-D professors from the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT).
The project, called “Computer Mouse for Persons with Upper Limb Amputation” seeks to research, experiment and develop a prototype for a device that will help people with physical limitations in using their hands to access a computer. The project seeks to develop a device that collects the movement of their limb and convert it into mouse movement without them having to use their hands.
At the DoST's Bicutan office, proponents Engr. Lassanah Mamadu A. Keita, Engr. Mariben Grace B. Salazar, Engr. Kathleen Ann Villanueva and Dr. Jose Aims Rocina presented their proposal before a panel from Mapua, Philippine Red Cross, DoST Electronics Project Development Center (EPDC) and DoST Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) to secure funding for their project.
The project was given the go signal after deliberations were made by the body. The project is expected to be funded under the DoST’s Technology Innovation for Commercialization (TECHNICOM) Program.
