Precautionary Measures for Prevention of COVID-19 (2019 Novel Corona Virus or NCoV)
Everyone is encouraged to practice personal hygiene. Please refer to the Department of Health advisory{ https://bit.ly/2OuHFeu).
A thermal scanner shall be used to check body temperature and determine who will be advised to immediately seek medical attention from outside the school.
- For high school, it will be checked at the entrance gate of the HS complex. Please expect heavy traffic while this is being carried out.
- Should the concerned individual register a temperature of 37.5 or higher, he or she will be advised to seek immediate medical assistance outside the university premises.
- For those serviced by the School Transport providers, the temperature will be checked at the HS complex and will be escorted in an identified holding area until arrangements are made for their pick up.
Those with coughs or colds are advised to seek medical assistance with their private physicians, especially if symptoms progress. Those who have experienced or witnessed such while on the campus are advised to visit the clinic immediately.
Guests and outside personnel with official meetings/attending functions in the University must be required by their host office/organizer to accomplish the Health Monitoring Form and submit the same to the Clinic for clearance, before proceeding to the event.
- All those who traveled to China and its administrative regions, South Korea, Italy, Japan and Iran (as a final destination or layover) must seek medical attention and undertake self- quarantine for 14 days from the time of arrival.
- Those who travelled to other countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases shall be asked to take a leave for 3 days from the time of arrival. They must present a medical clearance that they have no flu-like symptoms before they are permitted to work. Otherwise, they must complete the 14-day self-quarantine at home from the day of arrival.
- For faculty and students, online classes shall be maximized.
- For official or University-related travels, the quarantine period will not consume existing leaves for employees or an allowable number of absences for students.
- Please refer to the Adjustment Measures for Academics and Research Memo sent through email on February 5, 2020, by the PROVOST and kindly coordinate with your respective heads, deans, AVCs or principal to be properly advised on the procedures that must be followed.
- All official trips to places mentioned above (China and its administrative regions, South Korea, Italy, Japan and Iran, as a final destination or layover) shall be deferred until further notice. Automatically, applications for official travel and even leave applications for personal travel to those places shall be disapproved.
- Lastly, official travel requests to countries with confirmed cases of COVID-19 will be subject to strict filtering and monitoring. The University is also appealing to those who have scheduled personal trips to these countries to put this on hold until further advice.
The observance of housekeeping procedures and healthcare waste management for the disposal of medical masks will be as follows:
- The University Health Clinic around the campus located at ULS, JFH, GMH, and High School Complex respectively already have a separate trash bin for pathological/infectious wastes. However, due to the nCoV scare, additional trash bins intended solely for used face masks will be provided. Therefore, our University Health Clinic will be the identified designated area for the said disposal.
- As per World Health Organization (WHO) advisory on use of masks, it should be discarded immediately into a closed bin and hands should be cleaned with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
- Proper labelling of trash bins for Infectious wastes classified as Miscellaneous Waste MS0l ( Classification of Hazardous wastes) will be based on the revised DENR Administrative Order 22, Series 2013 (DAO 2013-22) of the Republic Act 6969 otherwise known as Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control Act of 1990. See the symbol below for your reference.
- As part of the basic protective measures against 2019-nCoV ARD, assigned housekeepers will disinfect the infectious wastes bin using hypochlorite solution prior to disposal to the DLSU-D Ecology Center.
