Students, faculty, and staff lit candles and observed a moment of silence for individuals and families who lived through suffering and injustice, particularly during the Martial Law years, as De La Salle University-Dasmariñas opened Lasallian Peace Month 2026 on September 21. The Holy Mass at the University Chapel and the candle-lighting ceremony that followed set the month's focus on peace, freedom, and human dignity.
Keyvi Cuevas, Project Officer for Advocacy of the Lasallian Commission on Development and Concerns (LCDC), spoke on the International Lasallian Days for Peace (ILDP) 2026 and its theme, "Peace by Piece: Building a Fraternal World," which frames peacebuilding as the work of many small, deliberate acts rather than a single undertaking.
University Student Government President Froilan Villan followed with a message on the role of the Lasallian community in advancing human dignity, responsible citizenship, and youth participation.
The program closed with the unveiling of the Freedom Wall, where members of the community can post reflections, hopes, and commitments toward peace, freedom, and human dignity.
