De La Salle University-Dasmarinas is joining hands with the Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc. (EDNPI) in supporting initiatives for Earth Day 2017 which will happen on April 22. This year’s theme “Environmental & Climate Literacy,” is especially important for members of academic institutions since they are crucial in empowering the global citizenry with environmental concepts and climate change.
The Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc. (EDNPI) takes point in the Philippine celebration of the global event which is supported by over 190 countries. For this year’s celebration, schools are encouraged to mainstream environment and climate literacy as part of the K-12 initiative.
Academic institutions are also encouraged to continue implementing green solutions and sustainable programs, something that DLSU-D has been at the forefront of for many years. Schools also need to replicate the best practices of other schools and partner communities to adopt these green initiatives. Lastly, this year’s Earth Day celebration seeks to promote the sharing of environmental knowledge with family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and other stakeholders.
