De La Salle University-Dasmariñas has moved up its ranking to 50 out of 407 invited universities in the 2016 GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities, putting it among the top 10 percent of greenest universities in the world.
DLSU-D ranks 10th in Asia and first among participating Philippine universities. It is also the only Philippine university to make it to the top 300 schools among the polled participants.
GreenMetric is an initiative which ranks invited universities all over the world on their sustainable and environment-friendly initiatives. The rankings are based on programs of each university in terms of sustainable campus development, climate change initiatives, waste management, use of renewable energy, research and education, water and transportation. Data is verified and peer reviewed through online questionnaires, satellite maps, research publications, awards, university website and other information from credible institutions.
“We hope that our performance will inspire and challenge us more in integrating sustainable programs in our curriculums, formations, classroom activities, campus development, operations, research and extensions,” Marlon Pareja, director of the Campus Sustainability Office said.
