“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!” (Psalm 118: 24).
On September 29, 2021 we gather as one Lasallian family to rejoice and to thank the Lord for all the graces He has bestowed upon us as a University. We look back with gratitude to the day when we have received our status as a University through our University Charter. The grace of being recognized as a University is indeed an honor and a blessing for all of us who form part of this educational institution.
Together with this gift is the great responsibility and challenge for every member of the community to do one’s role and tasks in furthering the institution’s goals for the Lasallian mission of humane and Christian Education for the young and the marginalized. Our current realities, including the global health pandemic, call on us to take concrete steps that will help alleviate the sufferings of those who are greatly affected by this. Furthermore, the wearing, if not losing, of the country’s moral and ethical standards, most especially in governance where truth is being compromised for personal gains, are a loud call for us to be truly responsive. As Lasallians, may we not turn away from these, but push us to be visible witnesses of faith by being true champions of justice, peace and integral ecology.
May God continue to become the source of our strength and our bond of unity from whom we draw our life and strength for the educational mission at hand, by caring for what truly matters, amidst these challenging times.
