The National and Local Elections this year provide our country with a critical opportunity for meaningful reforms. As institutions of learning, one of the challenges is to take a proactive initiative that encourages students to actively participate in a ‘game changing’ exercise of everyone’s right to choose our leaders.
In the spirit of the Lasallian communion in mission, the De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, and the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) – Cavite, are organizing an online forum for voter’s education entitled, “YouthVote2022: Handa ka na bang maging gamechanger?” on March 16, Wednesday, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Invited speakers from PPCRV-Cavite and the De La Salle Brothers will share the 16 Good Citizenship Core Values found in our 1987 Constitution and the Statement of the De La Salla Brother of the Philippines entitled “Discerning Our Future: The 2022 Election.” There will be reactors coming from the student sectors, the Ministri ng Pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga Lingkod Bayan of the Diocese of Imus, and from the Sangguniang Kabataan of Dasmariñas, Cavite.
This collaborative engagement will also be part of the DLSMHSI’s Lasallian Mission Celebration with the theme, “SANGANDAAN: Isang Pamilyang Lasalyano tungo sa pag-ahon ng bansa.” Moreover, this is also a collaborative engagement with the Religious Education Department of DLSU-D as curriculum integration of the subject REED004 “The Catholic Social Teaching and Our Social Responsibility.”
