Dr. Jan Philip Mallari, director of the University’s Cavite Studies Center and faculty of the Social Sciences Department, delivered the inaugural Governor Juanito R. Remulla Sr. Professorial Lecture in Political Science.
In his lecture, Dr. Mallari presented a study focused the significant industrialization in the late 1970s and early 1980s of Cavite province. The lecture delved into the substantial capital investments made during Juanito R. Remulla, Sr.'s tenure as the provincial governor and how his policies and leadership played a crucial role in the province's modernization and industrialization.
Drawing on a qualitative and comparative-historical study from 1979-1995, the findings highlighted the positive outcomes Remulla's government-implemented policies in industry, agriculture, infrastructure, and tourism. Among these were increased employment, livelihood, income, housing, health facilities, and tourism.
The strategic development of an administrative center in Trece Martirez City and the effective maintenance of industrial peace were also highlighted as significant contributors to the overall growth of the province.
The event was attended by former Congressman Gilbert Remulla, former Prime Minister Cesar Virata, the DLSU-D administrators and select faculty members, and other distinguished guests.
The Professorial Lecture in Political Science was an event initiated by the University Research Office.
