The Linkages and Scholarship Office (LSO) and the Museo de La Salle (MDLS) are collaborating on an Edutourism Program which seeks to provide educational tours and generate additional revenue to support Lasallian scholars.
According to Linkages Director Dr. Christian George Franciso, the concept was an idea that came from Museo de La Salle Director Mary Ann Jimenez- Salvador after she noticed an increase in the number of guests at the museum.
Seeing this as a potential income generating opportunity, the MDLS and the LSO worked out the details of a formal program that would eventually benefit fund raising efforts for Lasallian scholars.
“P10 from every guest will go to the Linkages office and this will go to our scholarship fund. That is the context of our edutourism program. We are hoping to invite different schools to visit the university and we will provide them with a brief background of our strong demonstrative capacity and after the brief lecture, the Linkages office will bring them to the Museo for the tour,” Dr. Francisco said.
For her part, MDLS Director Mary Ann Jimenez said that the new program is an innovative evolution to their existing edutourism campaign.
“Our edutourism campaigns have been ongoing for years. As a matter of fact, we are contributing to the visitors' arrival at the City Government of Dasmarinas and in the province of Cavite. Working with the VPIEA's linkages office can help us improve further our status as an edutourism campus not only in CALABARZON but in the whole country and international community. The presence of Museo De La Salle inside DLSU-D is a major force in this campaign as it provides a starting point for educating and showcasing to tourists what the Philippines has to offer,” she said.
