The DLSU-D KONEK project is entering its second phase which seeks to cover more areas on campus. The Wi-Fi expansion project has already established Wi-Fi access to several buildings in the East and West campus, including Ayuntamiento, JFH, PCH, Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo – IRC, ICTC 2nd floor, Square Canteen, Ugnayang La Salle, CTH Kubo, CBAA, LDH hallway, FCH hallway, GMH, and SAH.
For the next phase of the project, the ICTC is set to make Wi-Fi available in locations like the Residencia, COS, LDH rooms, FCH rooms and CTH rooms.
The ICTC also acquired additional bandwidth during the first semester to improve connection and speed on campus while another wave is set to be acquired this second sem to further improve wireless access to the internet.
“Our eventual goal is to have a fully covered campus, but of course, this has to be done gradually since we also need to prepare our existing network infrastructures for the upgrades,” ICTC Director Marvin Legaspi said.
Legaspi assured that the ICTC is also hard at work to improve its information and education drive to address potential issues experienced by the community when it comes to connecting to the university Wi-Fi.
“This is why we are planning to roll out our KONEK caravan in different colleges this second semester, in cooperation with the different college councils and student orgs so that we can be there to orient and help our students become more familiar with KONEK,” he said.
Legaspi said that the Center is encouraging the community to email konek@dlsud.edu.ph and include specific details about problems encountered such as location, time, type of issue encountered so that these can swiftly be addressed.
