As the National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) Office strives to contribute to the holistic formation of students and to comply with the mandate of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to create campus-based National Service Reservists Corps (NSRC), a formation and training program entitled LIKAS: "Lasalyanong Lider Kabataan para sa Serbisyong Bayan" was conceived.
This will take place from August 16 to 17, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Agape Springs Farm and Resort in Dasmariñas City.
The LIKAS program aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Reinforce and nurture essential knowledge and practical skills learned in NSTP-CWTS: Participants will build on their learnings to serve effectively as reservists. Incorporating the Lasallian Reflection Framework, the program encourages students to reflect on community realities and use their knowledge intentionally and meaningfully.
- Nurture zeal for service: By engaging in activities and discussions that highlight the value of their contributions to the country's development, students will actively express their nationalism and patriotism.
- Develop a strong sense of communion: The program fosters teamwork, collaboration, and mutual support among participants as they plan and pursue community engagements.
- Form a pool of volunteers: This pool will function as the student arm of the NSTP-CWTS Office, ready to support various initiatives and programs.
The program includes a variety of activities designed to engage participants in meaningful ways. Interactive sessions will cover important topics such as the nature of a Lasallian leader, The UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the Lasallian Reflection Framework, providing participants with valuable knowledge and insights. Community engagement is a key component of the program, thus, participants will take part in the set-up of the Aklatang KAISA mini library and will facilitate activities for the children of Barangay San Nicolas, Dasmariñas City. These hands-on experiences will allow participants to apply their skills and make a positive impact in the community. Finally, the program will include reflection and commitment-sharing periods, where participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and share their commitments to future service engagements.
While the training program is open to all interested NSTP-CWTS graduates, only 20 students will be selected. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Second-year students who completed NSTP-CWTS
- Enrolled for AY 2024-2025 before August 15, 2024
- Endorsed by their professor in NSTP002 AY 2023-2024
- Willing to join the pool of volunteers for NSTP-CWTS for AY 2024-2025
