De La Salle Academy Myanmar recently inaugurated its General Education (GED) Learning Center, made possible through the support of DLSU-D.
The partnership began under the leadership of former DLSU-D President Br. Francisco “Sockie” De La Rosa VI, FSC, through the Lasallian East Asia District (LEAD) program, which provides educational assistance to Lasallian schools in different countries, including Myanmar.
It was Spearheaded by Dr. Evelyn Obo with support from Dr. Ruby Causaren, Ms. Sharon Lubag, and Ms. Josephine Cruz.
"This collaboration is primarily aimed at assisting La Salle Yangon in establishing a GED Center, which will enable Burmese students to complete their high school degrees and subsequently consider DLSU-D as a potential institution for their college education," said Dr. Christian George Francisco, Vice President for Global Engagement and External Relations.
The inauguration was attended by key stakeholders including LEAD Visitor Br. Jose Mari Jimenez, Auxiliary Visitor Br. Iñigo Riola, Br. Joseph Aung, Br. Morris Tang, Bishop Francis Than Htun, Dr. George Francisco, Dr. Evelyn Obo, several De La Salle Brothers across Asia, as well as parents and students.
Four graduates from De La Salle Academy Yangon are set to begin their undergraduate studies in Business and Engineering at DLSU-D this August—marking a significant milestone in the growing partnership and paving the way for more students from Myanmar in the future.
