The Presidents of La Salle schools across the Philippines have issued a collective statement expressing concern over the current state of the Senate, urging a renewed commitment to truth, justice, accountability, and ethical public service.
Titled “Restoring Faith and Dignity in the Senate,” the statement highlights growing public doubts about the institution’s integrity following recent controversies. The La Salle leaders emphasized that the Senate, historically a pillar of legislation and accountability, must uphold its mandate to serve the Filipino people rather than protect vested interests.
The statement cited issues such as perceived institutional protection for officials facing serious allegations, internal conflicts, and public posturing, which have contributed to declining public trust. The group noted that these developments raise critical questions about whether democratic institutions continue to function in the interest of truth and justice.
Calling on Lasallians and the broader public to remain vigilant, the Presidents underscored the importance of standing with marginalized sectors who bear the brunt of corruption and abuse of power. They urged citizens to reject indifference and to actively uphold integrity in governance.
The leaders also addressed Lasallians in government, reminding them that public office is a responsibility rooted in service, not personal or political gain. Quoting statesman Jose “Ka Pepe” Diokno, they reiterated that public service must prioritize the welfare of the people.
The statement concluded by affirming the Lasallian commitment to uphold human dignity, challenge the misuse of power, and promote principled leadership guided by ethical values.
The statement was signed by the Presidents of De La Salle Philippines institutions, including De La Salle University–Dasmariñas, on May 27, 2026.
