DLSU-D has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to provide educational opportunities for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
Under the partnership, PDLs from GMA Municipal Jail, Bacoor City Jail, and Silang Municipal Jail will be able to pursue basic education and earn a senior high school diploma through the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS).
In addition to academic support, the program will offer values formation sessions, livelihood skills training, literacy and numeracy classes, and student-led outreach initiatives aimed at promoting rehabilitation and reintegration.
“This partnership reflects our Lasallian belief that education is a transformative power that must reach even those at the margins,” said DLSU-D Basic Education Division Principal Marlon Pareja.
“Through this collaboration with the BJMP, we offer not just programs—but pathways of dignity, hope, and healing for persons deprived of liberty,” he added.
The initiative underscores DLSU-D’s continued commitment to inclusive and transformative education for all, regardless of life circumstances.
