Lasallians marked the double celebration of Catholic Teachers’ Day and Lasallian Mentors’ Day with a Thanksgiving Mass at the University Chapel.
The Mass, led by the Campus Ministry Office and the Chaplain’s Office, sought to offer prayers to all who have dedicated their lives in carrying out our Lasallian educational mission by teaching minds, touching hearts and transforming lives. It was streamed on the Campus Ministry Office's official Facebook Page and was attended by members of the Lasallian family.
It can be recalled that before the United Nations declared October 5 as World Teachers’ Day, the Philippines designated January 26th as Catholic Teachers’ Day.
While there are still schools who hold special activities for the event, La Salle schools also mark the day as a milestone event for Lasallian teachers through the celebration of Lasallian Mentors’ Day.
“Since all the adult members of the institution are Mentors to the young people in varying degrees, we celebrate the "Lasallian Mentors' Day" as a reminder to all adult members of the community of their important role in the formation of the youth, regardless of their nature of work, and for the whole school community to express their appreciation and gratitude to the significant mentors in their lives,” the University Lasallian Family Office (ULFO) reminded the community on the significance of the event.
