De La Salle University-Dasmarinas (DLSU-D) recently completed a series of high-level courtesy visits in Spain, signaling a robust commitment to internationalization and strengthening academic ties.
The delegation, led by President Br. Iñigo Riola, University Provost Dr. George Francisco, and VP for Administrative Services Br. Dan Sanding, first visited the Philippine Embassy in Madrid. They were hosted by Consul General Mark Hamoy to discuss the establishment of crucial linkages between DLSU-D and various Spanish institutions. A primary focus of the meeting was to leverage the Philippines' historical relationship with Spain by enhancing the University's Spanish Language and Philippine Studies programs through collaborative and exchange initiatives.
Following the Madrid visit, the delegation held an engagement with Barcelona for a meeting at the Philippine Consulate, hosted by Consul General Tess Lazaro. This visit focused on forging connections with Barcelona-based universities and cultural centers. Specific mechanisms for cooperation discussed included collaborative efforts with Sentro Rizal and the joint organization of a significant Philippine Studies conference aimed at promoting Filipino culture and scholarship in Catalonia.
These successful engagements are poised to open doors for faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and cultural preservation efforts, solidifying the vital educational bridge between the two nations.
