De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) College of Law Dean Atty. Mary Jude Marvel led DivinaLaw’s first international free legal clinic for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Chongqing, China.
The initiative, co-organized with the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, is part of DivinaLaw’s Dulog Legal Program, which offers free legal education and assistance to Filipinos. Since its launch in 2022 under Managing Partner Atty. Nilo Divina, the program has empowered communities through accessible legal services.
Dean Marvel, who heads DivinaLaw’s Pro Bono and Dulog Legal Services, emphasized the need for legal awareness among OFWs navigating employment, family, and citizenship laws abroad.
“Our focus will be guided more by community needs and consular partnerships than by geography,” she said.
The session gathered Filipino professionals and consulate staff from Chongqing, Guizhou, and Yunnan, addressing issues such as labor rights, taxation, and family law.
Through this milestone, DLSU-D’s College of Law celebrates Dean Marvel’s leadership in promoting Lasallian values of service and justice, extending legal aid beyond borders.
