DLSU-D recently welcomed Dr. Emmett Ryan, a faculty member from Manhattan University, for a special lecture on gastronomy attended by faculty from DLSU-D and De La Salle Lipa.
Dr. Ryan offered insights on the study of food, highlighting its relevance in teaching composition and writing within the culinary arts. Faculty from DLSU-D’s College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) and selected members from De La Salle Lipa participated in the session.
“It's always a privilege to engage with fellow educators who share a passion for understanding the multifaceted world of food,” Dr. Ryan shared.
“The enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity of the faculty here at DLSU-D and La Salle Lipa were truly inspiring,” he added
The visit also paved the way for discussions on a bilateral student and faculty exchange agreement between the two universities, set to launch in August 2025.
Dr. George Francisco, DLSU-D’s Vice President for Global Engagement and External Relations, expressed excitement over the partnership, describing Dr. Ryan’s lecture as reflective of the caliber of collaboration they aim to foster.
“Our Linkages and Scholarship Office is poised to cultivate a truly impactful exchange program that will benefit our students and faculty immensely, fostering global competencies vital in today's interconnected world,” he said.
DLSU-D and Manhattan University are both members of the International Association of LaSallian Universities (IALU), sharing a commitment to global academic collaboration.
