The Lasallian Symphony Orchestra (LSO) captivated audiences during its latest concert performance, “Lights, Camera, Music: From Silverscreens to Symphonies,” held at the University Chapel.
Marking the organization’s first major production in seven years, the concert drew a full-house audience for both its afternoon and evening performances. The event featured seven orchestral pieces inspired by iconic films, showcasing the timeless connection between cinema and music.
Audience members were treated to memorable scores from films such as Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Howl's Moving Castle, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Black Swan, and How to Train Your Dragon.
The concert was conducted by LSO Principal Conductor Christopher Abugan and led by Concert Master Justin Tañada. In his opening remarks, Tañada shared that the production aimed to bridge the gap between movies and orchestral music, allowing audiences to experience familiar cinematic moments through live symphonic performances.
More than a musical showcase, the concert celebrated creativity, collaboration, and the transformative power of the arts in fostering community engagement among Lasallians. Through performances such as “Lights, Camera, Music,” the University continues to promote artistic expression and cultural appreciation as part of holistic Lasallian education.
