Students and faculty members from the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU–D) conducted courtesy visits to the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taipei as part of their academic tour in Taiwan.
The two batches of delegates were warmly welcomed by MECO Chairperson and Resident Representative Hon. Corazon Avecilla-Padiernos, together with key officials and staff of the Philippine representative office in Taiwan.
During the visit, the DLSU–D delegates learned about MECO’s vital role in strengthening Philippines–Taiwan relations and promoting the welfare of Filipinos living and working in Taiwan. The briefing also highlighted the importance of diplomacy and international cooperation, particularly in the fields of tourism and hospitality.
CTHM students actively participated in discussions on global mobility, cross-cultural communication, and the role of government institutions in supporting tourism development. The engagement provided students with practical insights that complemented their academic learning and broadened their understanding of international relations.
The courtesy visit forms part of DLSU–D’s commitment to experiential learning and global engagement. Through activities such as these, students gain meaningful exposure to international practices while developing cultural awareness and professional competencies essential for future tourism and hospitality leaders.
