De La Salle University–Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) officially inaugurated the Brother Andre Labelle FSC Lasallian S.P.A.C.E. (Lasallian Safe Place for Affirming Communion and Encounter) through a ribbon-cutting ceremony held at Julian Felipe Hall 103.
Designed as a Multifaith Prayer Room, the newly opened space aims to provide members of the university community with a quiet and welcoming environment for prayer, reflection, and dialogue. The initiative seeks to foster understanding and meaningful encounters among individuals from different religious traditions within the Lasallian community.
The ceremony was led by University President Br. Iñigo Riola FSC and Br. Andre Labelle FSC, together with representatives from the University Student Government and CPath scholars. An ecumenical blessing followed the ribbon-cutting, led by University Chaplain Rev. Fr. Ashpaul Castillo alongside student representatives from various religious traditions.
At the center of the prayer room stands a wooden star, symbolizing light and hope. The installation reflects the Lasallian identity of the University and the shared human search for guidance, peace, and spiritual meaning.
The prayer room is a gift from the De La Salle Brothers Sector of Japan in honor of Br. Andre Labelle FSC, who served in Japan for more than half a century. Throughout his ministry, Br. Labelle accompanied students from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, fostering relationships marked by respect, openness, and friendship.
Through the establishment of the Lasallian S.P.A.C.E., DLSU-D continues to promote dialogue, inclusivity, and spiritual formation within its academic community.
