De La Salle University-Dasmariñas hosted His Excellency Ambassador Marciano Octavo Da Silva of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste for a special embassy lecture, "Building Bridges through Education and Culture" at the ADG Reception Hall.
Ambassador Marciano Da Silva was warmly welcomed by University President Br. Iñigo Riola FSC; Provost Dr. Christian George Francisco; Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Sonia Gementiza; Vice President for Global Engagement and External Relations Dr. Nor Cachuela; along with faculty members and students of the International Development Studies (IDS) program.
In his lecture, Ambassador Da Silva highlighted how soft diplomacy tools like education and cultural exchange serve as “universal connectors” that promote international understanding, mutual respect, and shared progress.
“When we invest in education and embrace each other’s cultures, we create pathways for peace and meaningful partnerships,” Ambassador Da Silva said. “This is how nations—big or small—learn to grow together.”
