The Lasallian community will wear white this Friday, September 19, 2025 to call for transparency and good governance, following reports of large-scale corruption in the country’s flood control projects.
This initiative is a response to a joint statement issued by the De La Salle Brothers Inc. (DLSBI) and De La Salle Philippines (DLSP), which strongly condemned the alleged collusion among suppliers, government officials, and contractors involved in multi-billion-peso infrastructure programs.
To foster critical dialogue on the issue, DLSU-D will integrate the contents of the DLSBI-DLSP statement into classroom discussions. These will be covered in Religious Education courses at the tertiary level, Philosophy classes in Grade 12, and CHV/CLE subjects for Grade 11 and Junior High School students.
The Basic Education Department (BED) has also issued a memorandum relaxing the uniform policy for September 19, 2025, encouraging students to wear white tops. The BED Mission Office will also distribute white armbands to further symbolize the protest.
“By wearing white this Friday, we express our collective stand against corruption and our demand for accountability from all leaders, legislators, contractors, and civil servants implicated in the misuse of public funds,” said BED Principal Marlon Pareja.
College students are likewise urged to participate. A memorandum from the College of Deans describes the gesture as “a simple yet powerful statement from the youth.”
“DLSU-D stands firmly with DLSP and DLSBI in promoting integrity and championing good governance. Together, we strive to build a just and brighter future for the Filipino people,” said the University Provost.
"As Lasallian educators, our mission goes beyond teaching. We are called to form citizens who stand for truth, justice, and peace. Wearing white may seem like a simple gesture, but when we do it together, it becomes an act of faith and hope, a call for a government that truly serves its people,” University president Br. Iñigo Riola FSC said.
For the part of the Mission Office, a mass will be held at the University Chapel at 12 pm as a show of solidarity with DLSU-D's position.
