Prof. Mary Jude Cantorias Marvel, Dean of the De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) College of Law, has been invited to serve as a speaker at the UNIDROIT Centenary Academic Conference, which will be held from July 8 to 10, 2026 at the organization's headquarters in Rome, Italy.
The invitation was extended by Prof. Ignacio Tirado, Secretary-General of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), as part of the institution’s centennial celebration. The conference will gather leading legal scholars and experts from around the world to discuss the evolution and future of transnational law.
Dean Marvel is set to present her paper, “Beyond the Shadow of the Courts: Adopting the UNIDROIT Legislative Guide on Bank Liquidation in the Philippines,” which explores the application of international legal frameworks within the Philippine legal system.
UNIDROIT, an independent intergovernmental organization established in 1926, works to harmonize and modernize private and commercial law across jurisdictions. Its centenary conference aims to foster dialogue among academics, researchers, and practitioners on emerging legal challenges and opportunities.
The University commends Dean Marvel for this significant achievement, which reflects her expertise, scholarly contributions, and commitment to advancing legal education and research. Her participation in this prestigious international conference further highlights the growing presence of DLSU-D and its College of Law in the global academic and legal community.
